Ariel Sosna

Founding Partner

Ariel is a founding partner of Van Voorhis & Sosna LLP. She is certified as a specialist in Family Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Ariel has been exclusively practicing family law in California (San Francisco Bay Area) since 2007.

Ariel is a highly experienced family law attorney, who previously worked at a prominent San Francisco law firm before establishing her own practice. She has received consistent recognition from Super Lawyers magazine, being named a family law Rising Star for nine consecutive years from 2009 to 2018 and selected as a Super Lawyer for the past three years (2019-2023). Ariel has a strong background in mediation, having completed a 40-hour Mediation Intensive Training Program in 2013 and is trained in collaborative divorce. Her family law practice encompasses various areas, including divorce, child custody, support, and complex property allocation. She is an active member of several legal organizations, including the State Bar of California's Family Law Section and the San Francisco Bar Association's Family Law Section.

Ariel holds a J.D. with a focus on Family Law from U.C. Hastings School of the Law and a B.A. in Psychology from U.C. Berkeley. Prior to establishing her own legal practice, she worked as an associate at a reputable San Francisco law firm. Ariel also served as co-chair of the Family Law Section within the San Francisco Bar Association's Barristers Club. She volunteers with the San Francisco Superior Court as a settlement officer and with San Mateo Superior Court with their self-represented litigant status conferences.

As a San Francisco native, Ariel enjoys all things San Francisco including walking tours of historical sites in the city. She also enjoys cooking and frequenting the local farmer's markets. Most of all, Ariel enjoys spending time with her child.
